Spinners

Devestator

Our “Old Reliable” for bigger fish, it comes in 1/2 oz. & 3/8 oz. variations, and was designed primarily large-mouth bass, and other gamefish. It comes with a custom skirt, spinner blades that provide a lot of flash & vibration, and comes with a brilliant paint job. Like the smaller 1/8 oz. DX-18, there’s many ways you can fish it, try ripping it under the surface, or when they’re inactive, try letting it sink towards the bottom and do a slow stop & go retrieve, also slow steady retrieves can trigger strikes & chase-downs. Some of the select color patterns are in limited quantities, e-mail us today to see what we have available.

Check out our new Spring Panfish Jigs !!

Just like our older panfish jigs, they’re excellent for panfishing and also be used during the hardwater season. They are primarily made for perch, crappie, pumpkinseed, and bluegill and they come in the 1/16 oz. & 3/32 oz. sizes. It features a accentuated nose that can been jigged into the bottom sediment creating the illusion of feeding forage, and was designed to be snag proof with rocks. The jig can be used alone, and utilizes a bait holder on the shank of the jig, perfect for tipping it up with livebait (pinhead minnow or worm), soft plastic or the newer biodegradable baits. Colors wise, for now they come in bubble gum (hot pink), pinhead minnow, and glow-in-the-dark. All of our jigs are hand powder coated, and use the best holographic eyes we can find to create that natural look that looks just like the real thing.

We also offer a Quick Minnow 3-pack that comes with our SBC Panfish jigs rigged with a panfish sized swimbait body (soft-plastic), great for catching slabs. Great for intermediate to advanced anglers that want to go completely artificial and not use live-bait (ie: worms or minnows).

Picture for size comparison, the top three jigs are 3/32 oz., while the smaller jig on bottom is 1/16 oz.

Toronto Islands & Bait Concepts

As I mentioned in my last report/post, I was out fishing for pike (last Thursday) at the Toronto Islands, but while I was there I had a few new ideas for some baits that I've been itching to make. While fishing off a particular dock, I was realizing how the fish down there (especially in recent reports) just love sinking their teeth into black/white & black/silver husky jerks, which in my opinion, look quite like the natural shad & baitfish that reside in the Islands.

There will also be times in afternoons when the water warms up and the fish will bite just about any color, but when the bite is a little off these more natural colored baits seem to do the trick. With that in mind, I didn't see any pike that day, but I saw plenty of bass in the canals, it got me thinking.. the bass probably like that color aswell. I started thinking up top-water bass & pike concepts, and heres what I came up with aswell as a few pics from the islands !!

Spring Research & Testing

Been out fishing for pike lately (at the Toronto Islands), haven't had much time to do any updates, or post anything baits & fish wise, sorry for the delay ;) While I was there, I actually came up with a few new bait concepts for future use on bass & pike, but I'll save that for a future post! Instead I wanted to post about my trip today to a small pike/panfish lake, since Pike just opened in Division 4, I decided to give it a go !

Unfortunetly, I didn't see any pike, saw 1 LM that came cruising in to check us out and about 5-10 minutes later I noticed some panfish (sunfish/rockbass/bluegill) that were in the shallows right in front of us, which seemed to be active. We decided to go Ultra-Light !! It was a perfect oppurtunity to test my new UL (ultra-light) rod, and also try out one of my new baits "John's Steel Jigs" which were originally intended for use on rainbow trout & steelhead, for some odd reason I got the feeling they would do the trick, and they sure did !! Here's the results & a few pics of my new UL rig.

New SenSei Products For 2007

Along with the SenSei Scents and John's Wax Worms that I mentioned in a earlier post, we are quite excited about a few new products that are in the works this year, specifically for summer, one that we haven't yet mentioned is called "John's Ninja Stix". Until now, we've been very quiet about it, our goal was to make a durable but yet affordable line of bass sticks that lunkers would go nuts over and a bait that anybody from amateur anglers up to tournament bass anglers could use. The result was "John's Ninja Stix", we've already produced some "texas-rig" variations, and are currently in the midst of making a few other interesting variations. In testing we'll also be checking to see what works best !! I'll be sure to take some pics and possibly a vid or two.. I'll just leave it at that :D

For fall we have a new product in development that should be a great addition to our 2007 product lineup, its called "John's Steel Eggs", for a while now we've been wanting to create our own variation of imitation spawn egg(s) for use during the fall, winter & spring runs of steelhead & salmon. By this fall they should be ready, until then that's all we can say for now.

SenSei Scents Launching Soon !!!

Our new line of scents will be launching soon, the first for 2007 will be called "John's Garlic Craw". It's a combination of a few prefered scents that we've had a few requests for & that we've been wanting to make available for quite some time now. We noticed it goes quite well with the baits that we produce, so sometime next-week we should be recieving the packaging & supplies and then it should be ready for sale. At first we will be selling it in smaller 1 oz. & 2 oz. bottles, at $3.50 & $5.00 a pop, but we can also order larger-sized 16 oz. (pint) bottles upon special request in future.

SenSei Baits Going Fully-Barbless In 2007

SenSei Bait Co. is proud to announce for 2007, that we are switching 95% of our baits over to barbless hooks to help alleviate the need to cut-off barbs when entering barbless fishing zones. It also minimizes damage to fish during hookups aswell as being easy to de-hook, another added plus to using barbless hooks, is if you ever hook yourself or if your barbless hook gets caught in material, its fairly easy to pull out which is great for safety around children ! We still do have a limited amount of "John's Pinkies" that are barbed, and can be purchased upon special request, if you interested in purchasing a few packs of those you can e-mail us anytime at senseibaits@gmail.com

*NEW* John's Dawn Wax Worms (pics added)

The other week I was remembering how last spring I caught a ton of pannies with preserved Uncle Josh garlic-flavored wax worms, they were excellent bait in springtime, especially when the fish starting get sick of regular worms. The only problem I found with the preserved wax worms, was they fall off the hook so easily when casted and all it took was 1 or 2 sunfish before they bit the thing off the hook anyways..

So I started thinking, maybe I could tie my own variation of a imitation wax worm that you could fish as-is (for steelhead) or add a little scent onto (for panfish), thus we have now have "John's Dawn Wax Worms". At first I made 3 versions, and just as of lately I made a new & improved version that looks just like the real thing !!! Check it out.
